I’m a visual artist predominantly painting portraits and moments in rugby.
I know, I can hear you thinking – well, that’s a strange combination.
I guess when you put it into a couple of words like that, it is.
In short , it came about when my art teacher, Sonja Georgeson,
recommended that I was ready for my first solo exhibition.
My love of Rugby Union coupled with my first ‘framed’ painting being a portrait,
led to the exhibition, “Moments in World Cup Rugby” in 2004.
Now, I don’t only paint Rugby or portraits as you’ll see when you wander through the website.
My works also include abstracts, still life and landscapes in watercolour, gouache, oils and linocut printmaking.
I love to experiment and immerse myself in the texture of the materials and the narrative of the work.
Whether it’s 3 young African women with their heads together giggling, the front row of a rugby scrum about to pack down, or my mother mowing the grass in outback Queensland, I become engaged in the story and that’s what I want to express in my work.
In addition to painting, I’m actively involved with my partner in business and philanthropic ventures.
I also occasionally continue to work in my capacity as an executive coach and corporate trainer
and am engaged in professional associations.
